Cleaning and Care

Cleaning AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS

There are three different methods to cleaning your Disc-O-Bed. Determine which of these three different methods you need to follow:

  1. Disinfecting
  2. Spot Cleaning
  3. Deep Cleaning for Highly Soiled Mats

Before We Start:

Avoid the use of bleach or chlorine-based solutions
Avoid abrasive pads or stiff wire brushes
Do not machine wash or tumble-dry
Do not pressure wash

Remove the mat from the frame before cleaning. This helps prevent rust on steel parts, ensures better cleaning and faster dry- ing, and reinforces one of Disc-O-Bed’s key differentiators — the modular, parts-based design.

Disinfecting:

  1. Step 1. Choose a quality disinfectant agent with less than 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. We are using Benza-Rid. DO NOT use bleach.
  2. Step 2. Apply an even amount of disinfectant onto mat or onto rag and spread across all areas. Maintain contact time per disinfectant  label (typically 1 – 10 minutes).
  3. Step 3. Remove disinfectant residue with clean rag and clean water.
  4. tdoors or in an area that receives fresh air flow and allow to air dry. DO NOT place the mat in a drying machine.  ALLOW mat to fully dry before storing.

*All steel components can be wiped down with a wet, non-abrasive cloth.

Spot Cleaning:

  1. Step 1. You will need a rag or a soft brush, a bucket of clean water, and mild, color-safe, unscented, laundry detergent. We are using Dawn.
  2. Step 2. Dip the rag into bucket of soap water. Recommended 10-20 Milileters of detergent per Liter of water. Test the detergent on a  small area to see color fastness
  3. Step 3. Begin wiping the mat surface using the rag or soft bristle brush. Avoid high pressure or hot water.
  4. Step 4. Dip new clean rag into clean, plain, undiluted water and proceed to rinse mat of any remaining detergent residue.
  5. Step 5. After cleaning your mat, make sure to disinfect it by following the disinfecting routine. Then hang mat outdoors or in an area that  receives fresh air flow and allow to air dry. DO NOT place the mat in a drying machine. ALLOW mat to fully dry before storing.
